Sailing Aarhus:

The organising committee for the 2018 ISAF Worlds will be formed by Sailing Aarhus, a non-profit sailing event management organisation constituted by the five sailing clubs in Aarhus, with a representative from each bidding partner joining the board.

Sailing Aarhus was established in 1999 in connection with the Danish bid for the 2003 ISAF Worlds and has worked intensely ever since, organising international sailing events in Aarhus. Sailing Aarhus has a permanently staffed office and has successfully run numerous international events such as the 2008 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship, the 2010 505 World Championship and the 2013 49er & 49erFX European Championship.

Individually or collectively, the five yacht clubs have arranged major races and championships for many years. Their legacy extends back to the first international regatta ever held in Denmark, on the Bay of Aarhus in August 1866. For the past 25 years, the Bay of Aarhus has been the scene of more than 300 regattas. Among these have been numerous international championships, such as the Laser Standard Worlds, Europe Worlds, Yngling Worlds, 2.4mR Worlds, Star European, 49er & 49erFX Europeans, 29er Worlds and many European, Scandinavian and National Championships. The five yacht clubs have a total of more than 3,500 members, to which should be added the large number of enthusiastic sailing club members from all over Denmark who are expected to team up as volunteers.
